Affluent Households Confidence Down, Internet Usage Up

A researcher which concentrates on luxury spending says its index shows that the consumer confidence in affluent households is at the lowest level since 2009.

While the survey respondents indicated they were spending less than during the same time last year, the study also says they plan to spend about the same as they did last year.

However, in our consumer driven economy, we might be seeing “Alas shrugging” in that the very households that have the most discretionary income do not plan to spend more which would have a positive effect on the economy.

Coupled with the promise from President Obama to increase taxes on high income households, these consumers look like they will be even more cautious in their spending.

However, the same study shows that these households have increased their time on the Internet by five hours per week. So the best way to reach them is through video and search ads.
